Relationship Challenges

Relationship Therapy

I work with professional women when relationships feel complicated, stuck, overwhelming, or hard. This includes betrayal, narcissistic abuse, family rupture, and family estrangement, as well as the ongoing stress of a difficult relationship that hasn't reached a breaking point but doesn't feel workable either.

Most of the women I work with are equipped to handle just about anything in their lives. What they need isn't better communication skills. They need a sophisticated therapy that understands how certain dynamics create emotional pain in a relationship, and why it doesn't go away, whether it's between partners, children, siblings, parents. or friends.

Whether it means working through the emotional pain of an argument or the silent treatment of an
family member, therapy offers more than a space to vent. It provides a way to find actual relief.

It's worth asking what that relief actually looks like when the other person doesn't see a problem or believes everything is fine. That question comes up often. Individual therapy creates a shift in how someone responds to a long-standing pattern, interpersonal dynamics, and emotions. In other words, what feels urgent to discuss right away begins to feel less important, the same conversation stops repeating itself the same way, because the reaction that used to drive it isn't as automatic, and a feeling that once needed to be acted on can be expressed instead. With time, it’s possible to pause and set boundaries, discuss household chores, work through hard feelings, and function peacefully.

Working with a therapist who understands the unique needs of women is helpful. Scheduling a free
15-minute phone consultation is the first step. There’s no pressure. I’m licensed to practice in New York
and New Jersey.
