Sonia Brill, LCSW-Therapist in New York
Many of the women I work with are a lot like me. They're capable, accomplished, and often the person everyone else relies on. Often, they're mothers raising a family, or women in a relationship they're trying to understand better. Some are students completing a Master's or PhD.
Seeking therapy means something is no longer working the way it once did. Many women recognize that the stakes are high and want to speak with an experienced therapist, someone who can help them understand what's underneath it and find a more sustainable way of working and living.
I've been a therapist for over twenty years. I began my career at Bellevue Hospital, in the ER, in shelter services, and on inpatient units. Over time, my work shifted from hospital and community settings into private practice, where I now work primarily with professionals navigating anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, and family rupture.
I'm a licensed therapist in New York and New Jersey, with a Master's degree from New York University and postgraduate training from the Urban Institute for Family Therapy at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, under the guidance of
Dr. Evan Imber-Black, a longtime faculty member at the Ackerman Institute for the Family in New York.
As a working mother myself, I aim to create a space where every woman can be fully honest, and receive care that is both authentic and effective. Good therapy doesn't just change the person in therapy. It affects her relationships, her work, and often, her entire direction in her life.
